Release Notes
v9 - Polyglot
August 6, 2026- Rebuilt from the inside out. The codebase was rewritten from plain JavaScript into TypeScript, with the domain logic moved into Scala and the heavier work handed to a native Rust module
- A fourth language... Gleam now compiles alongside everything else, building the beginnings of a proper front-end. None of it is switched on yet - what you're looking at is still the hand-written JavaScript. It's groundwork for later
- New home. Stigmi now lives on a machine I own, connected through a Cloudflare tunnel rather than exposed directly
- To make up for all this, the stats page was massively updated to spew out a ton more info. See for yourself
- Nothing much else. This release is almost entirely internal plumbing - the site looks and behaves the same as it did in v8. Timelines assemble a fair bit quicker, but uploads are tenfold slower, I guess?
v8 - Variables
August 1, 2026- Username and password changing. No idea how to explain this one
v7 - Opacity
July 16, 2026- Account deactivation. Accounts can now be deactivated, effectively made invisible, but reactivated at any time
- More backgrounds. Backgrounds are now shown on the login/signup pages & account deactivated/deleted pages. The ability to show a random background everywhere might come soon
- File size limits. The file size limit has been raised and unified to a single 50 MB limit instead of a ridiculous per-type limit
v6 - Security
July 14, 2026Various security improvements
v5 - Workshopping
July 12, 2026- Landing page backgrounds. There are now 6 random background images, or 5 more, on the logged out welcome page
- Optimizations. Client side JavaScript is now only loaded when it is needed
- Other minor backend adjustments.
Stigmi might be getting a full modernized overhaul, I am not entirely sure who actually cares about larping as old Twitter
v4 - Salutations
July 11, 2026- Add a birthday to your profile. You can now add a birthday to your profile, year optional (all optional really) and also choose to show your current age.
- Birthday notifications. Along with that, you can opt to notify your followers that it's your birthday. Still testing it...
- Spam mitigation. Before this, if you mashed the Stig button very fast, it would create several Stigs. Mitigation for that has been implemented both client-side and server-side.
- An icon. Stigmi now has an icon, a green dot. Maybe I might make a better one soon...
- Terms of service. The terms of service have finally been written - please read them, they're pretty long and important.
v3 - Guarding up
July 5, 2026- Private your profile. You can now make your profile private, so only your followers can see your Stigs.
- See favorited Stigs. You can now view all the Stigs a user has favorited. Access to that list can be changed generously: from everyone, to mutuals, to following/followers only, down to only you. By default, it is everyone.
- Accounts can now get moderated, deleted, and reset. Stigmi mod applications opening soon.
- Mobile. Stigmi now looks half-normal on mobile devices. Usable, at least.
- Shrunken file size limits. Is this worth noting? Sorry for being a Discord, but the new file size limits are 2 MB for images and 15 MB for videos. There are two reasons: 1 - nobody uploaded a file anywhere near the new limits. 2 - because I said so. Still higher than Discord for video...
- Help page. The help page now actually has content!
- Added more bugs to fix later
v2 - Housewarming
July 2, 2026- You can now add media. This can be a video of up to 100 MB, an image of up to 2 MB, or an audio of also 2 MB. Go wild!
- GIF picker. Along with that, a GIPHY GIF selector was added to the Stig composer.
- Content warning / spoiler. Furthermore, add a cover for your media. This hides it behind a message of your own - that can be for sensitive content, spoilers, anything!
- Know what's happening. An extremely crucial notifications page has been added!
- Extended profile settings. You can now remove your avatar, purge your Stigs, delete your account, or download all of your data.
- Know what's happened. Profiles now have stats shown, like following/followers and amount of Stigs. You can also see who follows who.
v1 - Hello
June 29, 2026The first preview of Stigmi goes up, with posting Stigs, a phonebook, and not much else...
